In English
Welcome
Verkeerd Geparkeerd, or VG, is an association in Ghent (Belgium) for young gays, lesbians and bisexuals (all together called 'holebi' in Dutch, like lesbigays in English) until the age of 26. Half of our members are students, the other half is already at work. Verkeerd Geparkeerd was founded in 1987, which makes it the oldest association for young gays, lesbians and bisexuals in Belgium.
What can we offer you? Every Monday we have our café in the 'salon' of Casa Rosa (which is the 'pink' house in Ghent). From 8 PM on, you can drop by for a drink and a chat with other people. On average we have 100 people dropping by every Monday evening.
We also try to organise an activity for young people once a week. These activities take place on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. There are two kinds of activities: the informative ones, which deal with subjects like coming-out, relations, safe sex, … and the more fun activities like theatre, games, sports, …
Four times a year, we organise a party. Twice (in December and February) during the week, on a Thursday. These parties take place at Twieoo (Overpoortstraat 9). We also party twice on a Saturday at Vooruit (Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat), mostly in October and March.
Are you completely new? No problem, Verkeerd Geparkeerd has a system for welcoming and introducing new people. You can ask to have a meeting first with two of our collaborators. During this conversation you can tell your own story. We will also give you more information on our association, the situation of 'lesbigays' in Ghent and in Belgium, where to meet others etc….
But even without having asked for a meeting, you can always drop by at the café or during an activity. There will always be someone to welcome you and introduce you in the group.
Verkeerd Geparkeerd doesn't have a membership system. Everyone is welcome, provided he/she is less than 26 years old.
